A Great Start to 2018!

Dear St. Clair Baptists,

My heart is encouraged by what Jesus Christ is doing in and through the churches of the St. Clair Baptist Association! Sure, the challenges of adjusting to a changing culture are real. However, I see the Gospel shining brightly against the darkening backdrop of society in St. Clair County. Pastors, thank you for preaching the timeless truth of the Scriptures and taking the message of Christ's salvation to your community and the ends of the earth!

The St. Clair Baptist Association Evangelism Conference is scheduled for Friday, May 4 at 6:30 PM! Dr. Alvin Reid, author of Sharing Jesus Without Freaking Out (Lifeway) will be our guest preacher. Alvin is a gifted communicator and has a passion for evangelism and church revitalization. A few years back he included the story of a church I pastored in his helpful book titled Revitalize: Your Church Through Gospel Recovery. The Evangelism Committee has worked to streamline the service and to give focus to the imperative of communicating the Gospel. The committee will meet soon to verify location and details. We desire to see each of the 67 churches represented at the conference.

On February 15 at 7:00 PM the Executive Board will meet at the SCBA Office. The church pastor and one appointed representative from each member church is invited. This meeting will be positive as we celebrate a mission partnership recommendation from the SCBA Missions Development Committee, thank the Lord for a good stewardship report, and vote to welcome another church into watchcare! Come early for the pre-meeting workshop at 6:00 PM as Guidestone's John Hargrave "What Your Church Needs to Know in 2018." This workshop will help you, your deacons, or church administrative/insurance leaders to evaluate your church with regards to liability. The workshop is free for you and includes a Chick-fila meal. RSVP by calling our office at 205-594-5173 or emailing with your church name and participant names.

Friday, February 16 at 7:00 PM we welcome all pastors, ministers, and staff families to join us at Northside Fellowship at the intersection of Highways 174 and 231 in Pell City for Ministry Families' Dessert Fellowship. Tavon Arrington is in an inspiring young leader. He serves as Chaplain for the UAB Blazers. He will motivate and encourage us. Ministry families serve in a unique capacity; a lot of people simply don't understand the challenges and blessings. Take advantage of this opportunity to get to know the small group of servants in this area who "get it" and are serving alongside you in the Gospel.

*I am grateful to First Ashville for hosting the St. Clair Security Summit; their security training director has offered to allow other churches to send representatives to their ongoing training. Contact Mr. Delashmit, retired Federal Law Officer DHS and Senior Firearms Instructor, for details at 912-269-9972.

*Thanks to CrossPoint Men for painting and renovating the St. Clair Baptist Association Building. We are grateful to the churches who gave to provide new flooring to replace the original carpeting. This building is looking great for God's glory!

*I appreciate the many years of service given to SCBA Disaster Relief by retired director Glenn Pender! We are thankful that the Lord sent Glenn to lead St. Clair in starting the best Disaster Relief Team I have ever seen. Glenn is now serving as Pastor of Corinth Baptist Church, Argo. We are appreciative of Ron Culberson for taking up the leadership mantle and serving as the new Director of St. Clair Baptist Association Disaster Relief.

*I am thankful to Linda Smith (thankfully, she runs this place) for working so faithfully this past year to serve our churches. February 9 is her birthday! If you see Linda, wish her a happy birthday!

I am always here to serve you. Please call me if I may help you.

Sincerely in Jesus,

Chris Crain, SCBA
