Evangelism Conference 2018

Dear St. Clair Baptists,

Churches must fight the tension to be both biblically faithful (thinking like a prophet) and culturally relevant (thinking like a missionary), and a large part of church health necessitates maintaining both priorities. Without focusing on biblical and spiritual fidelity, a church ultimately ceases to be a church. However, without understanding the culture and a passion for expressing the Christian Gospel in manner that is comprehensible to their community, churches will lose the communication skills necessary to complete the Great Commission.

Evangelism Conference—TWO Great Opportunities for Your Church

Within the tension of biblical faithfulness and cultural relevance, the church must always be about the work of making new disciples. The entry point of disciple-making is articulating the Gospel clearly and authentically. Your SCBA Evangelism Committee believes that evangelism must be at the core of the healthy church. They have asked Dr. Alvin (Doc) Reid-- Bailey Smith Chair of Evangelism at Southeastern Seminary--to come to St. Clair County and challenge us in being faithful evangelism.

OPPORTUNITY #1: SCBA Evangelism Conference—On Friday evening, May 4 at 6:30 PM at Seddon Baptist Church, Doc Reid will preach a life-changing message on sharing Jesus authentically and naturally in our daily lives. Seddon Worship Choir and others will lead us in worship. Lifeway and D-Life will be on site to offer resources. Bring your entire church and let them be inspired to live out the Great Commission in the community and marketplace. We would love to see representatives from each of the 67 churches of the St. Clair Baptist Association!

OPPORTUNITY #2: SCBA Evangelism Seminar—Doc Reid will offer an Evangelism Seminar for leaders and members of SCBA churches on Saturday, May 5 from 9:00 AM until noon at the St. Clair Baptist Association Office Building. He will teach from his latest book Sharing Jesus Without Freaking Out—Evangelism the Way You Were Born to Do It. The first thirty to register on the Facebook Event at SCBA Facebook Page or by calling our office at 205-594-5173 will receive a FREE copy of the book and materials for the workshop.

Ministers Lunch—March 22, Ashville’s First Baptist at 11:00 AM

Join us at Ashville’s First Baptist Church for the SCBA Ministers Lunch. Billy Hunt, a true encourager in the mold of Barnabus, will be speaking to the ministers on March 22 at 11:00 AM. The catered lunch is free to all who RSVP on Facebook or call our office at 205-594-5173.

Kentucky Mission Trip

Your St. Clair Baptist Association Executive Committee voted to establish a three-year partnership with NAMB Missionary Paul Radosevich and Calvary Campus in Blackey, Kentucky. Your team from the churches of the Association will go June 16-23. If you or your church would like to donate to help us in evangelism and construction, please designate your gift and send it to our office: Kentucky Mission Trip c/o SCBA; PO Box 160; Ashville, Alabama 35953. You may give on our website at You always provide for our needs!

Thank You!

I express my sincere gratitude for the privilege of serving the St. Clair Baptist Association. I believe we can do more together to encourage, equip, and engage in the Gospel. Our rich diversity is our greatest strength. Please pray for those churches needing revival and leadership for the future. Come by and see our renovated office—courtesy of the generosity of churches within the Association.

Sincerely in Jesus,

Chris Crain, SCBA
